Founded in 1988, the Jackson Heights Beautification Group (JHBG) is an all-volunteer civic organization representing one of the neighborhoods in north-west Queens. Formed by residents in response to the community’s needs for preservation, maintenance, and community-building, the group continues to serve most of its original functions of maintaining the neighborhood clean as well as delivering arts programming that serves the diverse cultural communities residing in Jackson Heights. Over the years, events like their Halloween Parade have grown significantly, attracting visitors from beyond our area’s borders. This is also the case for their concert series, Summer Sundays in the Park. Recognized for its diverse and talented artistic lineup, JHBG’s concert series highlights local musicians from around the world, showcasing some of the best acts in Queens.

Every year, renowned Elvis Presley tribute artist Lamar Peters puts on the much anticipated Lamar Peters Holiday Spectacular, during which fans can enjoy the sweet combination of the golden oldies and popular holiday favorites. This all ages show is a night of high energy and fun, and kicks off the holiday season on a great note. Leading the eponymous show is Lamar Peters, who has made a name for himself as New York’s top Elvis tribute artist and the first Elvis tribute artist to perform at the B.B. King Blues Club in Times Square back in 2013. The show features surprise guests that will keep audiences entertained and a visit from Santa Claus himself. A portion of the sales from last year’s show benefitted The Kidney Coalition of NYC.

Barbara Eisenstadt has been president of RMAC for the last fifteen years. Twenty-two years ago she created the now-popular Rockaway Music and Arts Annual Fall Festival, which features art, crafts, music, and family fun. She is also responsible for the highly successful Sunset Picnic Concert Series held every summer in Fort Tilden, Gateway National Recreation Area. Barbara is also responsible for bringing the Music Memory Program of the Riverside Symphony to the school children of the Rockaways. Her creativity and devotion has made RMAC a premier cultural organization.
