Looking to discover great work from up-and-coming artists? Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City showcases some of the innovative art galleries in Queens. Each fall, Socrates presents an exhibition of new commissions made by artists awarded ‘The Socrates Annual’ fellowship. Produced on-site in our outdoor studio over the course of the summer, these artworks engage the Park’s unique history, landscape, and surrounding community. For the 2019 exhibition, projects range from a soundscape combining the sounds of animals and man-made objects to a monument to the invasive Ailanthus plant. The best part? Socrates Sculpture Park is open 365 days a year from 9 a.m. to sundown and admission is free.
